What is an Annual Fund?
A robust Annual Fund secures unrestricted gifts that directly support our students and teachers. It is the lifeblood of our school, touching every aspect of our students’ lives, and it is the means through which we may provide high quality academic programs, fund teacher professional development, or enhance a classroom by addressing a pressing need.
The Annual Fund directly supports the people and programs that make a CHS education unique, including:
- 5:1 Ratio of students to faculty
- Average class size: 15
- 30% of students receive tuition assistance
- Staff holding advanced degrees: 47
Why should I contribute to the Annual Fund?
As is true of most independent schools, tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating a student at CHS. Annual Fund contributions make up for this annual budget gap and enable a portion of each family’s financial commitment to the school to be 100% tax-deductible.
Where do Annual Fund donations go?
Annual Fund contributions support:
- CHS’ rich curriculum and learning environment.
- The Financial Aid Program, moving the school towards a more socio-economically and culturally diverse student population to enhance every child’s learning experience.
- Salaries and benefits that enable CHS to attract and retain the best and most talented staff.
- Regular, critical maintenance of and enhancements to our beautiful campus.
How much am I expected to contribute to the Annual Fund?
CHS understands that philanthropy is a personal choice. Every family is asked to make a meaningful gift commensurate with their financial ability. We would be honored by your support at the following
1860 Society Giving Levels:
- Founder’s Circle: $25,000+
- Lowell Circle: $10,000 - $24,999
- Hammond Circle: $5,000 - $9,999
- 1860 Circle: $2,500 - $4,999
- Essex Circle: $1,000 - $2,499
- Chestnut Hill Circle: Up to $999

How do I make my 100% tax-deductible gift?
