He hired me for my job as Librarian for Marian and I remember he said at the interview I don't know much about libaries so you can help me learn. And know I didn't misspell it. That's how he said it. I loved it. He let me do whatever I needed in the library since he said I was the expert. I loved being treated as a trusted professional rather than an underling.

One of the greatest honors of my life was being hired by Mr. Malarkey as Marian’s first full-time Director of Alumni and Development in 1990—a role I had no formal experience in, but he saw something in me. That opportunity launched a 35-year career in Catholic education that became my life’s ministry. Thank you Mr. Malarkey for enriching my life, and so many other Marian alumni.
