What is Battle of the Decades?
Battle of the Decades is Ursuline’s annual alumnae giving challenge that encourages participation across generations of Bears. The decade with the most alumnae donors wins the trophy and yearlong bragging rights.
The 2026 competition runs April 20 through Alumnae Day on Saturday, May 2.
What does my gift support?
All Battle of the Decades gifts support The Ursuline Fund, which strengthens the school’s operating budget and strategic priorities.
What is the Ursuline Fund?
The Ursuline Fund is the school’s annual fundraising priority and supports every aspect of the Ursuline experience. It provides flexible, unrestricted resources that allow Ursuline to respond to real-time needs and opportunities across academics, scholarships, student life, faculty development, and campus improvements.
Is there a special goal this year?
Yes! Five anonymous alumnae donors from across the decades have committed a $75,000 matching gift. If 1,000 donors make a gift by the end of Battle of the Decades on Saturday, May 2, the match will be unlocked for The Ursuline Fund. Every gift, regardless of size, helps reach this goal.
What is Phonathon and how does it fit in?
Phonathon takes place on Tuesday, April 21. On this day, alumnae volunteers reach out to classmates by phone and text to encourage participation and build momentum across the decades. It is a long-standing Ursuline tradition and an important part of the Battle of the Decades effort.
Why is alumnae participation important?
Alumnae participation is one of the strongest indicators of a thriving school community. When alumnae give, it demonstrates belief in Ursuline’s mission and commitment to future generations of students.
With nearly 10,000 alumnae worldwide, even small gifts combine to create meaningful impact for today’s Bears.
What does the wining decade receive?
The winning decade earns the Battle of the Decades trophy, yearlong bragging rights, and the satisfaction of knowing their participation helped strengthen Ursuline for future generations.
I've already made a gift this year - does it count for Battle of the Decades?
Yes! Any gift made on or after July 1, 2025, automatically counts toward your decade’s total. Thank you for your generosity and for helping your decade compete! If you’d like to make another gift, it’s always welcome! Every contribution strengthens The Ursuline Fund and supports the future of the school.
