Q:

Who can attend the event?

A:

All are welcome to register to play, learn or attend the dinner and cheer on the players!

All event participants and attendees must be 21+.

Q:

Who can be on my team?

A:

Compose your team as you wish! Please ensure all players are 21 or older.

Q:

I don't have a partner. Can I still sign up?

A:

Absolutely! Choose the individual registration option, and we will match you with a teammate at your experience level.

Q:

How many times will I get to play if I sign up for the tournament?

A:

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games: three during the round robin pool play portion and one during the single elimination playoff portion.

Q:

How does the tournament work?

A:

Round Robin Pool Play (5:30-7 p.m.)

  • We will begin with 32 teams of two. These teams will be split into eight groups of four teams each during the round robin portion.
  • During this portion, each team in the group will have the chance to face off against the other three teams. Therefore, each team will play three games during the round robin portion.
  • The wins vs. losses during this portion (using points for tiebreakers) will determine tournament seeding.

Single Elimination Playoffs (7-8:30 p.m.)

  • The top 50% of teams will be allocated to compete in the “Dinker Bracket” while the bottom 50% of teams will play in the “Banger Bracket.” This way, you will be better matched with teams of your experience level, heightening the competition.
  • These brackets are single elimination brackets, meaning once you lose in this portion, you will no longer continue on in the tournament.

  • Still want to play? There will be open courts for casual play!

  • In the end, first and second place champions will be crowned from both the Dinker and Banger Brackets.

Q:

What is the seeding criteria?

A:

1) Best Win/Loss Record - i.e. Highest Win Percentage

2) Lowest Points Allowed - i.e. Lowest Average Points Allowed Per Game

Q:

Can I still play once I am eliminated from the tournament?

A:

Yes! If you would like to keep playing, there will be courts available for casual play.

Q:

Are the games timed?

A:

Yes. To keep the tournament on schedule, games will be timed. If tied when the cowbell rings, the team will play one last point with rally scoring, and the team that scores the last point will be declared the winner.

Q:

Who is keeping score?

A:

Court Monitors are not referees.

All scores, line calls, kitchen violation calls, etc. are the responsibility of the players on the court.

If a rally is adversely affected due to a court condition, it results in a replay. In the event of a disagreement between the two teams, the Court Monitor’s decision is final.

Q:

What does the clinic entail?

A:

Three one-hour clinics will run during the event, simultaneously with the tournament.

These clinics are an opportunity for those interested in learning the game to be taught by a professional in a small group setting (eight people per session).
