Why is additional giving needed if I already pay tuition?
This is one of the most common questions we receive, and it’s an important one.
Tuition is the foundation of St. Michael’s operating budget, but it is intentionally set at a level that balances affordability with the true cost of providing an exceptional educational experience. If tuition alone funded every aspect of the St. Michael’s experience, it would need to be significantly higher.
The Halo Fund bridges that gap by providing the resources that allow us to maintain the exceptional program quality our families expect. It supports outstanding teachers, innovative learning opportunities, classroom resources, technology, student enrichment, campus improvements, and the flexibility to respond to new opportunities and needs throughout the year.
Simply put, the Halo Fund helps ensure that every student receives an educational experience that exceeds what tuition alone can provide. Participation is always voluntary, and every gift—regardless of size—helps strengthen the experience for all of our students.
I already volunteer my time and contribute to events like the school play or graduation. Why should I also support the Halo Fund?
First, thank you. Our school thrives because of the incredible generosity of our families, whether through volunteering, supporting school events, or making financial contributions. Every act of involvement strengthens our community.
The Halo Fund serves a different purpose than event-specific giving. Contributions to the school play, graduation, athletics, or other activities help make those individual programs and events successful. The Halo Fund, however, provides flexible, unrestricted support that benefits every student, every classroom, and every program across the school.
It is the Halo Fund that allows St. Michael’s to invest in exceptional teachers, innovative learning opportunities, classroom resources, technology, campus improvements, and other priorities that enhance the overall student experience throughout the year.
Volunteering, participating in school events, and supporting the Halo Fund are all meaningful ways to invest in St. Michael’s. Together, they help ensure we can continue providing the exceptional education and opportunities our students deserve.
Why is current family participation so important?
The Halo Fund is about more than reaching a fundraising goal—it’s about demonstrating our community’s shared commitment to St. Michael’s School.
Last year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our families, we increased parent participation from 20% to 60%. This year, our goal is to reach 80% family participation, reflecting the strength and unity of our school community.
High participation sends a powerful message that our families believe in the mission and future of St. Michael’s. It also strengthens our ability to seek support from foundations, businesses, and major donors, who often look at community participation as an indicator of a school’s overall support.
Participation matters more than the size of the gift. Whether you give $25, $250, or more, every family that chooses to participate helps us move closer to our goal and demonstrates a shared investment in providing an exceptional educational experience for every student.
Our hope is that every family will participate at a level that is meaningful for them.

The Capital Campaign and the Halo Fund serve two different purposes. The Capital Campaign provides funding for major, long-term projects, such as new facilities, renovations, or other significant improvements that will benefit the school for years to come.
The Halo Fund, on the other hand, supports the day-to-day educational experience of our students. It provides the flexible resources needed to invest in outstanding teachers, innovative programs, classroom resources, technology, student enrichment, and other priorities that enhance learning throughout the school year.
Both are essential to the continued success of St. Michael’s. While the Capital Campaign builds for tomorrow, the Halo Fund ensures we can continue delivering the exceptional educational experience our students receive today.

Why should I consider making a recurring gift?
Recurring gifts are one of the most meaningful ways to support St. Michael’s School. By giving monthly, you provide a steady, reliable source of funding that allows the school to plan with confidence and invest in students throughout the year.
Monthly giving also makes it easier for many families to make a larger annual impact. A recurring gift can often fit comfortably into a monthly budget while adding up to a significant investment over the course of the year.
Whether it’s $25, $50, $100, or another amount each month, every recurring gift helps sustain the exceptional programs, outstanding teachers, and enriching opportunities that make St. Michael’s unique.
