Renbrook was where I learned to love learning. I fell in love with school at age three and never stopped loving learning. It’s a bit of a problem now that I’m in the corporate world and have an insatiable intellectual curiosity, but there are worse problems to have. Thank you, to the wonderful teachers. I remember each and every one of you.

In memory of Payson Corbiere - and in honor of all those who taught my children. I was teaching grade 5 before I had my kids and then I returned to teach grade 2 with Marfie Parsons Lavendier and she was the best! Many others who meant so much to me a a teacher and as a teacher of my children. I also fondly remember those who went with from Nursery School at the Junior School all the way to the Renbrook School class of 1961.

In 1972 when I was in fourth grade Florence Green visited our class as part of an oral history project that we recorded. I do hope the recording survived. It was an inspiring story of dedicated families and teachers operating out of rented homes and then the little building on Trout Brook Drive that was still standing in my youth. The story of the parents investment of sweat equity in sanding down and painting, the recycled, old wooden desks with the the blue paint for a time symbolized the school. I’m honoring audacity of Ms. Greene, the generosity of the Rentschler Family and so many others, and most of all, the dedicated faculty who made next to nothing in those days, but believed that educating children to be curious, empathetic members of a community was a noble cause. Their efforts made me who I am today. My gift is in the spirit of Miss Green but it honors the entire community that built and supported the school.
