What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund at MMI Preparatory School is the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts, supporting a wide array of essential areas every year. Funds raised help provide scholarships, academic materials, professional development for faculty, student activities, athletics, music, arts, technology, and much more. By giving to the Annual Fund, you’re contributing to the legacy of philanthropy that defines what it means to be a Prepper.
Can I choose where my gift goes?
Yes! You can direct your Annual Fund gift to one of six key areas based on your personal interests:
The Head of School’s Fund (supports MMI’s most immediate needs)
The Scholarship Fund
The Academic and Technology Fund
The Athletics Fund
The Arts Fund
The Excellence Fund for Faculty Professional Development
You can also designate your gift to a specific named scholarship, whether endowed or non-endowed.
Can I give in memory or honor of someone?
Absolutely! You can make a gift in memory or in honor of an alum, family member, friend, or a beloved MMI faculty or staff member.
Are there suggested giving levels?
Yes, we have several recognition levels based on your donation. Every gift counts, and no amount is too small!
The Eckley & Sophia Coxe Society: $10,000+
The 1879 Society: $5,000 – $9,999
The Mining & Mechanical Circle: $2,500 – $4,999
The Head of School’s Circle: $1,000 – $2,499

Can I donate by mail or phone?
Yes! To donate by mail, send a check payable to MMI with “Annual Fund” in the memo line to:

Can I donate Cryptocurrency?
Yes, MMI accepts crypto donations through our secure platform, Engiven. You’ll be able to donate over 40 different types of cryptocurrency - including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin - and Engiven will convert your gift to U.S. dollars before sending it to MMI.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, all donations to MMI are 100% tax-deductible. After making your gift, you’ll receive a confirmation receipt via email.
Can I make a gift to MMI from my IRA?
Yes. If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to MMI without paying income tax on the transfer. The gift counts as neither taxable income nor a deduction, and it can satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution for the year. Because it doesn’t raise your taxable income, it may also help lower Medicare premiums and reduce the portion of your Social Security benefits subject to tax.
To make a gift, contact your IRA custodian and ask them to send a qualified charitable distribution directly to MMI Preparatory School, 154 Centre St, Freeland, PA 18224. Our Tax ID Number is 24-0795967. Please have the check made out to MMI (not to you), and let us know the amount and which fund you’d like it to support so we can thank you properly. For a 2026 gift, your custodian must complete the distribution by December 31, so we recommend starting early. Questions?
