Rock Day is a cherished milestone for Kent students—a symbolic ascent marking the journey from their 5th to 6th form years. While today’s students make their climb to the Rock, we as alumni have our own Rock Day memories to treasure. Although we may not physically return to the Rock, our connection to this tradition remains strong, and together, future Kent students can enjoy it for generations to come. We invite you to reflect on your Rock Day, post your memories and photos, reminisce about your Rock Day at Kent, and join together in support of the School.
for the impact the school, staff and faculty has made

Graduation Edition, June 11, 1964 (Page 2)
Maelstrom Swirls In Daring Night Escapade
The esprit d'corps of '64 was manifest in a dangerous project
designed to separate '65 and several galloons of royal blue and
orange paint (which by the way, are the same colors adopted by the
renewed N. Y. Mets).
Sunday night, the underground of the Norge (a notably manned dorm on an experimental basis) worked late into the night in an effort to secure the much coveted liquid which is designed to produce new from old in a single application.
The Maelstrom felt the old was in every way as good as the new and opposed any change. Such is the wisdom of the Maelstrom, whose efforts this evening parallel
escapades of earlier Kent classes. So leaders Leber, Valenta and Carr
commandeered a forced entry into Mr. Russ Parcells' grotto as Haskins and Jacobi
were keeping the night guard and others occupied with witty conversation
and other diversionary tactics. Being guerrillas of experience and having excellent equipment, the underground had no trouble entering; but the paint was no where to be found. So the raiders left in the same secrecy in which they had entered, much discouraged, but not yet undaunted.
Monday morning, The Maelstrom adapted a more subtle tact. Messrs. Chamberlain, Hazelton and Tilghman posed as Fifth Formers and simply asked for the maintenance crew for the paint. At this point newly announced Senior Prefect,
John Read of'65, inquired as to the whereabouts of his cherished paint. Mr. Parcells informed him that his classmates had already gotten it, but The Maelstrom corrected this misconception at Job Assembly . The chant of "Where's your paint fifth form?" rang throughout The Mattison Auditorium. It was announced that a treasure hunt of sorts had been arranged for the amusement and diversion of '65. So another day at Kent began on an unusual note as the seniors basked in their success while the juniors puttered about the campus in pursuit of their paint, which of course, found.
