Music Man Theater Experience
Performing Arts Immersion for K-6th at Franklin Classical School
How does my child prepare for auditions?
Auditions – April 2nd, 2:30-4:30pm
We will guide and direct your child through the audition process—this is a low‑pressure, entry‑level theater training experience.
Students should be ready to sing, dance, and act.
K–1st may be asked to tell a joke or recall a quarterly project.
2nd–6th may be asked to read scenes from The Music Man script we will provide.
Students eager for a more prominent role should be ready to raise their hand and sing one of our American History songs from music class.
Every child will participate in the show in some capacity. This is an immersion experience where all levels of talent are given a chance to shine and grow in their understanding of the arts.
Where can I reserve seats for the actual Music Man performances on May 2nd?
We will need a head count of every person attending, including those receiving complimentary tickets. Please reserve/purchase tickets on this site: https://boostmyschool.com/franklinclassical-music-man-show
Parents are welcome to attend the “sneak peek” Knight Crew on May 1st; however, please note that space is limited and will likely be standing‑room only.
Do I need to stay with my child during practice after school?
For auditions—and perhaps the first practice until your little one feels settled—you may want to plan to walk them from after school dismissal to Miller Hall. The theater department will organize high school student helpers to escort younger students from their dismissal class to theater practice. At this time, auditions and practices are scheduled to take place in Miller Hall. It is not necessary for parents to attend every practice—especially if we have a few parent helpers rotating in and out. Please let Stefani Martin know if you would like to be more hands-on since she would treasure your assistance.
Who do I contact with comments or questions?
You’re welcome to reach out to Stefani Martin, our Theater Department Director, at [email protected]. However, most questions will naturally be answered at the audition and during the first practice—many parents share the same questions, and Stefani will address them together at that time. Since this is a small operation, we kindly ask that non‑urgent inquiries be saved for in‑person moments when Stefani is already speaking with attending parents. This helps her focus on preparing a great experience for the kids.
Will there be snack time?
Yes, there will be a brief snack break. Please pack extra water and a peanut‑free snack for your child to enjoy—or feel free to bring enough to share with the whole crew! At our first audition/practice, please notify the theater team of any allergies they should be aware of.
What if I can not afford for my child to participate and they REALLY want to?
We have added a registration option for students in need of scholarships. Please go to this registration option and input your students information.
