Dutchess Day Fund
What is the Dutchess Day Fund ("DDF")?
- The DDF is an annual appeal for unrestricted gifts to support the ongoing needs of DDS. It is not an “above and beyond” campaign.
- Tuition revenue only covers approximately 80% of our expenses; the balance comes from philanthropic gifts to school
- Funds raised by the DDF help satisfy already budgeted needs for this fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). These funds are put to work right away.
What does the DDF support?
Along with tuition, which covers the foundation of a DDS education, funds from the DDF are applied to the school’s operating budget to allow for excellence in our programs across:
- Exceptional Teachers (Salaries, Benefits and Professional Development)
- Academics (Innovative curriculum + Small class sizes)
- Enrichment (Arts, Athletics, Tech, Foreign Language, Service Learning)
- Financial aid
- Campus maintenance
Are gifts to the DDF tax deductible?
Yes! The DDF is a way for parents and other supporters to give unrestricted funds to support students and teachers by enhancing the school’s budget in a tax-deductible way.
DDS is recognized as a 501c3 charitable institution
Why does participation matter?
Participation builds community, is a strong vote of confidence and strengthens the school’s reputation when talking to potential donors, including foundations and grant opportunities.
We strive for 100% participation from our Trustees, Parents and Faculty
How much should I give?
- Every gift truly counts! We encourage you to give at a level that is meaningful to you.
- Giving tiers are recognized at every level, with leadership gift levels starting at $3,000 and going to $20,000+
- The only gift too small is no gift at all!
Can my gift be matched by my company?
Many companies will match employee contributions to the Dutchess Day Fund. To find out if yours is eligible, you can inquire through your company’s human resources department.
