About
For all of her years as a student and then as an alumna, St. Mary’s Hall and Doane Academy served in many regards as Alice Fisk’s second home. She could be found at nearly every event, served for sixteen years as a trustee, and connected in person with so many students of the school, especially those who were a part of the Lawrason School Family (which was named in honor of Mrs. Fisk and her family), with whom she visited regularly for many years. In 2017, she was named a trustee emerita by the Board in recognition of her generosity and tireless efforts to support Doane Academy.
Especially since the school’s financial struggles in the late 1990s, Mrs. Fisk was wholly engaged in her alma mater’s well-being and success. She rallied her classmates and other fellow alumni to the aid of their beloved school. Mrs. Fisk and the group that she assembled were central to several physical improvements made at Doane Academy. From the rebuilding of the school’s entrance known as the Fisk Portico in 2002 to the furnishing of the St. Mary’s Hall lobby of Rowan Hall in 2015, Mrs. Fisk has been at the center of many efforts that have enhanced the school for the students and everyone who passes through this historic campus.
The many hundreds of students, parents, alumni, and friends of Doane with whom she interacted are all indebted to Alice Fisk and will miss her energy, focus, loyalty, kindness, and wit.
Donations made to the Alice Fisk Fund of Doane Academy will support capital projects that will benefit the next generation of Doane students.
