Q:

What is the purpose of Breck's Give Day?

A:

Give Day is a one-day community celebration of philanthropy supporting the Breck Fund. It brings together parents, alumni, faculty/staff, grandparents, parents of alumni and students to highlight how collective giving strengthens the school experience for every student.

At Breck, Give Day celebrates giving and gratitude in all its formsstudents share the results of their learning in the performing arts, sciences and other areas that are easily showcased; thank you notes are written to donors in real-time; students create gratitude wall collages in each division; and Breck community members — both near and far — are encouraged to give what they can to support the Breck experience for all students. It’s a day that displays how collective generosity — in all its forms — can strengthen and invigorate a community through shared purpose.

Q:

How can I participate in Breck's Give Day?

A:

If you are able to join us on campus on Thursday, November 20 you will witness Mustang spirit in every corner of campus. You can view the gratitude wall collages created in each school division with student reflections and drawings, you can participate by writing thank you notes to donors, and at various times of day you can watch student performances or a robotics exhibition in Salas Commons.

If you cannot get to campus, visit this website throughout the day for the latest raffle winners, or watch with anticipation how your child’s grade level is doing in the Isles Bun Puppy Dog Tail contest by viewing the leaderboards on this platform. In fact, you can help your child’s grade level win the contest by participating with a gift to the Breck Fund (there will be one grade level winner per division).

Q:

I'd like to help each of my children's grade levels win a Puppy Dog Tail Contest, but do I have to make three separate gifts to the Breck Fund if I have 3 chilren?

A:

The answer is no. You only need to make one gift which will count as your participation for each one of your children’s grade levels. Just be sure to list all of your children’s grade levels in the area provided on the giving form.

Q:

What is the schedule for Give Day's events?

A:

Available all day: Gratitude Walls in each Division of the School featuring student reflections and drawings as follows: LS — outside of the LS Office; MS— in the MS Commons Area; US — on the walls leading to the Senior Commons. Thank-a-thon Station. Raffles (different raffle prizes spread through vaious times of day).

Q:

Please provide more detail regarding the student-led fundraising effort for solar panels included on the Give Day website.

A:

The Solar Renewable Action by Youth (Solar RAY) initiative is a student-led continuation of decade-long efforts to install solar panels on Breck’s campus.

The Climate Action Community Partnership has worked for the past two years to design and raise funds for a solar installation on the fourth floor to power an indoor hydroponics garden used by the Garden for Good CP. With a solar panel installation, Breck will be able to grow fresh produce for our local community, using clean, renewable energy generated right here on campus.

The students’ aim for this year’s Give Day is to raise $2500, bringing this goal within reach before the end of the school year. Beginning November 13, you will be able to contribute to this initiative. We truly appreciate everyone’s support, and we are excited to help make the students’ dream of installing solar panels at Breck a reality!
