The AAG Archives preserve the history and accomplishments of the Albany Academy for Girls, and ensure that the girls and young women who were educated there will be remembered in this era of consolidation with the boys and young men of The Albany Academy.

In honor of our marvelous teachers and classmates, with extra appreciation and thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and to the women who made our lunches
Now that AAG as we knew it is disappearing, it is crucial that we safeguard its history. I am deeply grateful to Margaret Lamar King, who has taken it upon herself to organize this project. This is a crucial moment; with every change in staffing, institutional memory is lost. I urge my classmates to do what they can to help in this effort to keep the memory of our historic school and its legacy alive.

I am still very upset that the Trustees did not find a way to incorporate AAG and AA into a new entity that recognized both schools and did not eliminate AAG as an entity. The process for "combining" the two schools ( esp. the long video about all that would be included in the "merged" schools) was completely disingenuous. The Trustees missed a huge opportunity to not only celebrate girls' education in fundraising , but also to honor the mission of AAG.

Historical artifacts can help us tell the story of our alma mater. Also, when I earned a Masters of Library Science, I did an archives concentration with an internship at the Schlesinger Women's History Library at Radclidffe. Archives matter! This is in honor of Anne who is one of the smartest women I know in celebration of her wonderfulness and commitment to our school.

Happy to support the Phase II effort of transforming the AAG Archives into a resource for use by the Academy community and beyond. My two gifts are my salute to Caroline Mason's leadership in bridging the gap of Academy Road 20 years ago. Personally, I can attest that the Archives can be most helpful -- I used the AA Archives in 1976 while a Midshipman at Annapolis to write a Physics term paper about Joseph Henry, thanks to Mr. Olcott!

As President of the State History Interest Project (SHIP) during my time at the Academy, I had the privilege of learning from Bob Olcott ’44 and John McClintock ’57, who generously shared their time and knowledge with me. They introduced me to fascinating artifacts from the archives, including century-old class assignments from long-dead students predicting what life would look like in the far future -- which happened to be the year of my graduation, trophies from the bygone Red and Black athletic competitions, and an abundance of battalion mementos. Through their guidance, I came to appreciate that Academy history is American history—reminding me that much of the world we experience today can be traced back to the treasures preserved on the shelves of our archives.
