NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference
We’re sending six students and four teachers to this national conference in Nashville, TN to help our community find new ways to embrace Cornelia Connelly’s “love full of action.”
Our Holy Child Goals explicitly call us to “create a learning climate based on trust and reverence for the dignity and uniqueness of each person” and to “work for Christian principles of justice, peace and compassion in every facet of life.” To reaffirm our commitment to these ideals, we’re offering six Mayfield students the opportunity to attend the National Association of Independent Schools’ Student Diversity Leadership Conference, a multiracial, multicultural gathering of high school student leaders from across the U.S..
Our student delegates were selected based on their short essay responses to questions that asked them to spell out their passion for leadership, social justice and diversity. At this four-day conference, these students and their faculty chaperones will participate in small group sessions to help them develop effective cross-cultural communication skills, learn how to identify and develop effective strategies for social justice, practice expression through the arts, and learn networking principles and strategies.

"College prep" in 2018 has to include preparation for leading in a diverse society. The SDLC Conference is an excellent way to promote this sort of training. Thanks for providing this for today's Mayfield students.
