Inspiration: I am endlessly inspired by the natural beauty of flowers. Their elegance and complexity never cease to amaze me. In this painting, I wanted to capture the beauty of the freesia — one of my favorite flowers for both its delicate fragrance and graceful structure. Even the buds alone feel extraordinary to me, each one holding its own quiet beauty.

Riva Fischel ’90 is based in Westport, Connecticut, and studied Fine Art at the University of Vermont.
