Phil Staples ’76 Philip C Staples grew up in Connecticut and Maine. Because of his love for hunting, he often created waterfowl scenes for family gifts, in addition to drawing comic strips for the Hyde School newspaper, Crossfire. Phil went on to earn a BS degree in Business at Boston University School of Management. After a career in technology and sales, he retired and soon rediscovered his love for producing art.
Phil received a week of oil painting art instruction from Mark Carder, author of drawmixpaint.com, in Austin, Texas. He became an associate member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA), where his first oil painting was exhibited and sold at the Reinhart Art Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. He also was recognized and awarded a “Wet Painting Competition” honor at OPA’s 34th Annual Convention, attended by some 250 artists.
Phil’s current passion is painting Maine Seascapes and Texas ranch and farm animal scenes as well as canine portraitures.
